UTA Rail Maintenance Facility

UTA acquired the existing UP Diesel Locomotive Maintenance Shop and North Yard and renamed it as the ?Warm Springs Service Center?. The shop includes an 185,000 square foot building, half of which will now be utilized for normal, preventative, and corrective maintenance and repair and storage of commuter rail rolling stock. The other half of the building may provide future space for upgrade and overhaul of UTA rolling stock; UTA large parts storage for bus and light rail; maintenance of right-of-way storage and activities; rail maintenance work equipment or other future use.

Archiplex Group is the lead architect for the office and warehousing upgrade of the existing facility. In addition we are assisting with the upgrade of other building exterior enhancements. This is anticipated to be the first in a series of improvements gaining full utilization of the reclaimed facility as the needs of commuter rail grow throughout the Wasatch Front.
